Ancona, chief city of the region, has a rich cultural and architectural heritage: the Theatre of the Muse, the Church of SS. Sacramento, its square: Piazza Plebiscito, the National Archaeological Museum of Marche, the gallery: Pinacoteca Civica, the Cathedral of San Ciriaco and the Diocesan Museum. The city centre is a perfect place for shopping, while the Passetto is the seaside of the town which offers a miraculous view. The ancient city walls and gates: l’Arco di Traiano, l’Arco di Clementino, la Mole Vanvitelliana and Lazzaretto can be found at the docks. The municipal park of the Cittadella, at the peak of the Astagno Hill, preserves the wall ruins of the ancient fortress.
