Urbisaglia
The abbey of Chiaravalle di Fiastra was founded in 1142 by the Cistercian monks coming from the mother abbey of Chiaravalle di Milano. The Archeological Park of Urbis Salvia: the monumental structure of the ancient city perfectly conserved was a result of a coherent urban planning started during the rule of August and completed in the following period of Tiberius, created by the exploitation of the natural terraces, typical of this side of Fiastra Valley. The medieval Fortress of Urbisaglia, built between the 12-13th c. with the aim of creating a strong point of defence of the valley, was destroyed several times in wars by lords of the neighbouring castles.
