CHIESA DI CASTELNUOVO
Church of Romanesque foundation. It still has the ancient gabled structure. The facade with three large eyes (the central one partly occluded) and the valuable portal date back to a reconstruction of the 13th century). The Madonna on Throne of the stone lunette, signed by master Nicola Anconetano and dated 11th April 1253, is flanked by the archangels Michael and Gabriel. The bell tower in its primitive form, is the oldest in the city (12th century). In the interior, subjected to restoration works, fragments of ancient frescos by Pietro of Recanati have been discovered (early 15th century).
